Joining forces …

Wilma and Gille have worked together as independent conservators since 2009. In 2026 they consolidated their knowledge and experience to form Sustainable Heritage Conservation Ltd.

Meet Wilma

Wilma Bouwmeester has built a solid reputation as the main collections care consultant in Scotland, and has over 30 years experience in the conservation and care of collections, provision and management of museum environments, and the analysis of environmental data.

She is an ICON Accredited Conservator with a professional interest in the sustainable construction, management and use of spaces holding collections.

Through previous preventive conservation roles at the Scottish Museums Council and the National Trust for Scotland she helped museums adopt good preventive conservation practices, and laid the foundations for the NTS Collections Conservation Department, instilling the concepts of preventive conservation for both museums and historic houses.
