‘Gille recently supported us at Fyvie Castle during our 100% EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report). This was no mean feat in a castle with over 50 rooms and 5000 collection objects. Every electrical socket, light and switch had to be accessed for testing, which meant lots of access issues with important collection objects 'in the way' and potentially at risk from being moved to provide access.

With no capacity in house to manage such a project, we turned to Gille who made sure the whole thing ran smoothly. Gille drew up an effective plan to ensure the collection was protected, developed a great working relationship with the electrical contractors and even empowered NTS staff on site who grew in confidence as a result.’

‘Wilma assisted National Museums Liverpool with the design process during RIBA stage 3 of the project to redevelop the International Slavery Museum and the Maritime Museum. Wilma’s contributions included commenting on design proposals by the project architects and engineers to enshrine best modern collections care into the design of the refurbished listed buildings. A particular emphasis was on sustainability of any modifications to the building and mechanical and electrical installations (economically sound, socially inclusive, and environmentally responsible). One important consideration was to reduce energy demand compared with the pre-refurbishment situation whilst at the same time ensuring collections in the buildings are appropriately cared for. Wilma was knowledgeable about environmental management of different types of collections, sustainable building management, project management and confident at communicating with various project consultants. We would gladly work with her again during similar projects.’

‘I first met Wilma in 2019 when Sustainable Heritage installed our radio telemetric data loggers, and over the years I looked forward to her annual visits for calibration and system review.

The considerable task of gathering and preparing all the loggers for calibration became a highlight in my calendar because Wilma is such a pleasure to work with.
